Living with Simultaneity

Most life events happen simultaneously, and we have to deal with them at once.

I have a mostly logical and definitely perfectionist brain. As such, sometimes I wish I could 'freeze' time so I could do one thing after the other, perfectly. How nice would it be to focus only on one project at a time?

However, that is not how life flows. Many events in life seem to come in waves: starting slowly, gaining intensity, peaking, and then fading. New life events start before others are completely finished, all the time. Their premises can be felt beforehand, and their consequences last. For example, when applying to a school or job, looking for an apartment, or planning a trip.

One lesson I learned is to not wait until my current problem is solved to start planning for the upcoming one. This gives me resilience and helps me achieve more because I condense projects instead of missing deadlines. Personally, I applied to my current job before finishing my master's degree. I looked for a flat while starting this new job. And I am now planning a trip for this summer. Otherwise, these things not would happen, or too late. It took me a long time, few missed opportunities, and many boring summers to integrate this.

I had to quit being a perfectionist to embrace the fact that most events in life happen simultaneously. How do you navigate with the challenge of dealing with multiple life events at once?
